European style poly drums have increased quite a bit over the years , especially among exporters of fruit juices and other foods. Since the drums have deep inset lids and no lifting chime, they are typically man handled from overseas containers. Obviously man handling a drum is a no no but the way these containers are designed, your options for handling them is limited. 99% of the drum lifters on the market were not created for this style drum simply because of the bottom and top taper. Easy lift Equipment has developed some products which will allow you to lift and maneuver these drums without having to get off the truck.

The process is just as cut and dry as you see it here. Drive in, lift up and move the drum. Of course this unit is set up to handle 2 drums at a time but they also make models to lift one drums as well as smaller 35 gallon drums if needed.

The top of the line Eagle 4 Series of lift truck attachments incorporates heavy-duty Eagle-Grip double articulating clamping mechanisms for handling any steel, plastic or fibre chimed drums in high volume applications. These units provide the safest available method of lifting and transporting any chimed drum.

The clamping mechanisms are completely mechanical requiring no hydraulic or electrical connections. Each drum is gripped with two upper and lower jaws in heads which are spaced about 6 inches apart. The swivel action of the Eagle 4 Series is operator friendly permitting pickup of misaligned or slightly separated drums. The Eagle 4 Series is strongly recommended when handling fibre and plastic drums in excess or 600 lbs. and light gauge open head steel drums.

Fork mounted models enable lift truck operators to install/remove the attachment in seconds without tools. Totally enclosed fork pockets with attached safety chain and cam-lock secures the attachment to the lift truck. Fork mounted models can handle 1, 2, 3 and 4 drums simultaneously.Quick adjustable heads allow pickup of various drum heights. Standard belt bases support the lower side of the drum eliminating dents or cosmetic marring.See all EG Forklift drum lifters

The clamping mechanisms are completely mechanical requiring no hydraulic or electrical connections.Positive action jaws insure safe transporting of drums without damage to drum chimes. Carriage mounted models are available to mount directly on the carriage of most lift trucks for tight aisle applications.Forklift mount models enable lift truck operators to install/remove the attachment in seconds without any

tools. Totally enclosed fork pockets with attached safety chain and cam lock secures the attachment to the lift truck. Fork mounted models can handle 1, 2, 3 or 4 drums simultaneously.Attachments handling 2 or more 55-gallon drums are narrower than the width of the drums themselves. This makes easy unloading of drums which are tightly packed in trailers or overseas containers. Quick adjustable heads allow pickup of various drum heights. Standard heavy duty rubber belt bases support the lower side of the drum eliminating dents or cosmetic marring.Optional non-sparking jaws are available for the flammable drum handling.

All models can handle steel, poly and/or fiber drums with ease. The clamping mechanisms is designed to lift the drums by the chime or lip of the drum allowing them to lift both closed and open top drums. The belt cradles at the bottom of the unit help keep the load in place should an overzealous driver navigate a turn a little too quickly.Since the unit a lifts the drum from the 6 o clock position, they are ideal for loading and unloading trucks where drums are stacked together. The common hook style attachments use small arms to wrap around the drums which will scrape truck walls and abutted drums. The other issue we hear with those models & other barrel lifters is its hard to keep a visual eye on those hooks when looking through the mast of the fork truck only to find out the driver lined them up poorly and punctured a drum. With the Eagle Grip attachments you get a sure bite every time and it wont let go of that drum until you want it to.Options:
